John Reid was the unmistakable voice behind his alter ego The Nightcrawlers, who first hit the charts with the timeless dance anthem "Push The Feeling On." As the frontman of this iconic act, John helped shape a generation of dance music and left an indelible mark on global pop culture.
His Nightcrawlers Soul Sessions album, featuring standout tracks like "All Night Long," received widespread airplay across the UK and revealed a more intimate, soulful side of this extraordinary artist. The project offered listeners a glimpse into the heart and depth of John’s vocal and songwriting brilliance.
Recently featured on the front cover of Blues & Soul magazine, John reflected on his remarkable journey — from touring the world as the Nightcrawlers to writing for global stars including Kelly Clarkson, Pitbull, Westlife, Tina Turner, Leona Lewis, and Keith Urban.
John’s only solo album, produced by soul and jazz legends Michael J. McEvoy and Ernie McKone, was recorded with live musicians, giving the record a warm, organic sound. His voice shone throughout, drawing comparisons to icons like Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye. BBC Radio’s Robert Elms even remarked that some tracks carried the flavour of Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall.
The album also featured a soulful reimagining of "Push The Feeling On," along with remixes of "All Night Long" by Russell Small (DNO P), formerly of the Freemasons, and an updated version of "Push The Feeling" featuring Big Narstie.
At 1 2 One, we had the honour of managing John in the years leading up to his solo album release. We first connected with him at a songwriting camp in Denmark, and instantly clicked. From then on, we travelled with John across Europe, on song camps creating unforgettable music. John had a warm, magnetic personality, unmatched talent, and a deep sense of humour that endeared him to everyone who knew him.
John Reid will be dearly missed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fans around the world as we mourn the loss of a true musical great.
